Information we collect

If you create an account, we collect your email address and any profile details and reviews you choose to add. If you claim a business, we collect the contact details you use to verify it. If you allow location access, your approximate location is used in your browser to sort results by distance; we do not store your precise location on our servers.

Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember preferences such as your saved location. We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand how the site is used in aggregate. We do not sell your personal information or use it to serve third-party ads.

Service providers we use

We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run the site: Supabase for our database and sign-in, and Resend to send transactional email such as verification codes. They process data only to provide these services to us. Map data comes from open sources including OpenStreetMap.

How business listings are sourced

Business listings are built from public government records (such as business licenses and minority-business certification directories) and trusted open map data, including OpenStreetMap. We publish only business information, names, categories, addresses, and contact details. We do not publish owners' personal information.

Reviews

Reviews reflect the opinions of their authors. We may remove content that violates our guidelines. Business owners can respond to reviews on listings they have claimed.

Removal & corrections

Business owners may claim a listing to correct it, or contact us to request changes or removal. We honor reasonable removal requests. See our contact page.

No bulk scraping of our data

We do not permit bulk scraping or harvesting of the directory. We block known data-harvesting and SEO-intelligence bots at the network level and through our robots.txt file, and we rate-limit automated traffic. Copying the directory to build a competing service is prohibited under our Terms of Use. We do allow reputable search engines and AI assistants to reference listings, which helps people discover the businesses we list.

Data retention and your choices

We keep account and review data for as long as your account is active. You can edit or delete your reviews, and you can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data by contacting us. We keep business-listing information as part of the public directory even after individual accounts are closed.

Children

TiruList is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
